Proprietors Bryan Wolmarans and Stephen De Meyer have been in Dullstroom just on fourteen years and have seen the little village grow from a sleepy backwater to the popular getaway spot it is now. After opening various eateries for other people in the village, in 1998 we opened our own “Bryan’s Plate”.
At the end of 2004 an opportunity arose to do our own thing again, so we took the bull by the horns and opened Mrs Simpson’s and today it is still growing and entertaining our valued guests and friends. Diners come as guests and come back as friends.
The Restaurant is named after the divorceé Mrs Simpson, who became the late Duchess of Windsor. She married King Edward VIII who abdicated the English throne to wed her. They were together for 35 years, until he died in 1972, and she lived on till 1986.
Mrs Simpson was well known for her huge collection of shoes, handbags and gloves. It is thanks to our patrons' generous donations, that our collection of these has grown to what it is today.
